HOW TO DEPIN A HYUNDAI, KIA AUTOMOTIVE CONNECTOR | FOG LAMP

Depinning Automotive Connectors, Hyundai and Kia

We have numerous videos and posts demonstrating how to depin automotive connectors and in this post, we're going to specifically discuss a fog lamp car connector used for a Hyundai and Kia vehicle.

Take a look at L43A2.

This has two pins.

To repair this, you first want to start by finding out which release method works best for releasing the pins.

This connector has a rear lock, not a front lock, and has its "catches" built in.

However, you don't have to remove a front lock to get to it, therefore we do the same lock remover process we display in an earlier video.

Make sure you use a proper depinning tool.

It's important so you don't damage the locking tab. And as you can see, some have a broader tip than others so it's crucial to choose the correct size before you de pin.

For the locking tab:

Start by releasing one corner at a time.

Each connector corner has a little notch and that's what's grabbing onto the connector body.

Start by each corner at a time, meaning the left side first and/or the right side.

Using your connector release tools, a terminal release tool, or something as simple as a mini screwdriver locate the catch.

In this video, Ruston uses a 1.8 mini screwdriver, perfect for releasing the terminal in L43A2.

By looking at the connector it's hard to see the inner terminals so it may be helpful to use a flashlight.

Once located, you'll see those catches down in the connector housing. Again, this connector has the catches built into it.

Gently place your connector release tool into the catch and carefully pry away from the connector's housing.

Pull out the wires and terminals simultaneously as you're prying with your tool. If you don't do this, or you use too much force the terminals will not budge and you may damage the pins.
